We received this testimonial from one of our clients, Jeff, and we wanted to share it with you! Matt has been working with him on strength training and recently started coaching him on endurance coaching. Here's what Jeff had to say:
"I got back into running this past summer after not running regularly for about 15 years or so. I had never been a serious runner prior to that, I mainly ran a bit for fitness and pleasure.
Matt at Breakthrough Fitness began coaching me about four months ago. He started with a detailed history of my running and injuries which has included IT band issues and severe adductor strain. (I might be a little tiny bit accident prone). We also talked about footwear and the importance of strength and some kind of crass training activity like cycling.
In the gym, Matt got me on the treadmill and just had me run while he filmed my gait.
After analyzing and explaining what he saw, he gave me a few initial tips in regards to foot strike. It was very different from how I had run before and while it did take a few weeks to get adjusted, it made a very big difference in the sense of fatigue and wear and tear in my feet and legs.
The program he laid out for me was very helpful and motivating. Each day of the month had a plan for running in terms of distance and intensity. Interspersed were days for cross training activities and rest days. Having a plan helps me break down my overall goal of improving strength and endurance into smaller pieces.
So far I’ve been able to run 5ks and hope to run a marathon next Fall. It definitely helps to have a good coach!!"
